Dental Pit and Fissure Sealant in Brampton
Pit and fissure refer to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of teeth. No matter how efficient ones brushing is, the bristles of a toothbrush are not small enough to get in those grooves. As a result, plaque and bacteria can accumulate, resulting in cavities. The purpose of sealants is to seal all the grooves as a barrier against bacteria and plaque. Sealants are colourless, therefore, they do not change the look of the teeth. They also do not interfere with eating or speaking. At our office, we always emphasize sealant placement, especially for children so their exposure to cavities is minimal.
